Position Summary
NNPN’s Membership Specialist provides coordination, administrative, and logistical support for NNPN’s Member Theater activities and engagement efforts across the Network’s more than 100 member organizations nationwide. Working closely with the Executive Director in their role as Membership Services Lead, this position helps ensure member activities, communications, meetings, and processes run smoothly and effectively. The role supports membership recruitment and renewals, member engagement initiatives, convenings, committee and working group coordination, and cross-organizational communication. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, creating structure, managing multiple moving parts, and contributing to a collaborative national arts network. NNPN views this position as an opportunity for professional growth, with the potential to expand into a full-time role in the future.
This role plays an important part in helping maintain strong relationships, communication, and collaboration across NNPN’s national network of member theaters and artists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support NNPN’s Membership activities including regularly scheduled Member Theater meetings and events such as the National Showcase of New Plays and other official Convenings.
Assist the Executive Director with Membership applications, approval, onboarding, and renewals, and maintain all Membership records.
Coordinate and track membership-related workflows, timelines, and follow-up activities to ensure projects and commitments move forward effectively.
Communicate Membership updates across internal departments to ensure collaboration.
Support meeting facilitation, participant correspondence, and follow-up tasks.
Schedule and support Membership Committee and Membership Evaluation Working Group meetings and document outcomes.
Track project timelines and ensure deliverables are met for membership-related activities and events.
Help ensure more than 100 member theaters remain informed, connected, and engaged across NNPN activities and initiatives.
Assist in creating organized, welcoming, and collaborative experiences during virtual and in-person convenings.

Membership processes and communications are organized, timely, and responsive.
Meetings, convenings, and committee activities are well-coordinated and effectively supported.
Member theaters feel informed, connected, and engaged with NNPN activities.
Projects and deliverables are consistently tracked and followed through to completion.
Internal communication and collaboration across NNPN activities remain smooth and proactive.
This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys connecting people, keeping projects moving, building relationships, and helping collaborative work happen behind the scenes.
Minimum Qualifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
Familiarity with project management and Customer Relationship Management systems (especially Calendly, monday.com, and HubSpot) is preferred.
Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Extremely organized with strong attention to detail and ability to navigate multiple projects.
Able to manage multiple stakeholders and follow through on commitments.
Comfortable working in ambiguity and helping bring structure to processes and projects.
Strong self-management skills and comfort working independently in a remote environment.
A desire to help build a robust, equitable, diverse new play ecosystem for the American theater.
Valuable Assets
Experience providing administrative support for leadership roles.
Previous work with arts, member, or service organizations.
Experience with meeting facilitation and creating collaborative, safe spaces.
Familiarity with not-for-profit professional theater, new works, and new play-makers.
Knowledge of the Network’s activities, including its primary programs (Rolling World Premieres, Residencies, New Play Exchange, etc.) and its Member Theaters.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly wage: $28 per hour
10–15 hours per week

Work Environment & Employment Terms
Fully remote position with 1–2 work-related trips per year for convenings or organizational events. All approved travel expenses are covered by NNPN. Because NNPN collaborates nationally across multiple time zones and supports live convenings and meetings, occasional evening meetings or event-related work hours may be required with advance notice.
